CLIL and Literary Education: Teaching Foreign Languages and Literature from an Intercultural Perspective—The Results of a Case Study

This article intends to explore the relationship between CLIL and literary education by considering the results of a case study involving the teaching of foreign literatures from an intercultural perspective in Italian secondary schools. In the first part we introduce a model of literary and intercultural communicative competence and in the second part we present a case study implemented in three secondary schools in Northern Italy. La telecolaboración entre grupos heterogéneos en la clase de lengua extranjera

[ES] En la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras, numerosos profesores trabajan las competencias lingüísticas y comunicativas por medio de actividades que incluyen las TIC. Entre ellas, se encuentran los proyectos de telecolaboración por Internet, intercambios asincrónicos y sincrónicos, entre grupos de estudiantes pertenecientes a diferentes comunidades lingüísticas distantes geográficamente. Nuestro objetivo ha consistido en comprobar si un proyecto de telecolaboración sincrónico entre grupos heterogéneos de estudiantes, con distintos perfiles y niveles en lengua extranjera, es factible y si contribuye al desarrollo de las competencias comunicativas, intercuturales y tecnológicas.

Production of written French skills by first generation immigrants in working age

This paper aims to identify factors explaining the level of proficiency in written French by immigrants in working age, knowing that few research has been conducted in France on this issue. The originality of this paper is the stochastic production frontier model to explain the scores in written French and the productive performance of immigrants (considered as producers of their own skills). The main results show that mother tongue, age at immigration, social life and mother's diploma are elements which influence the effectiveness of this production. Suomen kouluissa opiskellaan yhä vähemmän ja yhä harvempia vieraita kieliä. Valinnaisten kielten opiskelun suosio on laskenut, ja kielitaito on vaarassa jäädä pelkän englannin varaan. Erilaisia toimenpiteitä, kuten kielen opetuksen varhentaminen, on jo tehty. Ne eivät kuitenkaan ole juurikaan lisänneet muiden vieraiden kielten opiskelun suosiota, vaan valtaosa oppilaista ja opiskelijoista opiskelee edelleen vain englantia kotimaisten kielten lisäksi.
